Welcome!
My name is Kathleen Fischer and I am an 8th grade teacher at Sequoia Middle School. I teach Honors and CP English, as well as English Opportunity 7. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey and earned my teaching credential from CSU Channel Islands. As a teacher, I have taught both high school and middle school, but I am most passionate about teaching "middle schoolers". I find it extremely gratifying to watch my students flourish both academically and socially during these critical years and frequently use interactive and collaborative classroom instruction. Yes, learning can be fun! However, students are held accountable for maintaining established expectations for both academic performance and behavioral conduct. My students will be doing a considerable amount of writing this year in preparation for their transition into high school. It is my goal to help students hone their writing skills so that they may continue to develop as confident, competent writers. The more opportunities students have to think analytically and compose, the less daunting writing tasks become and the more successful they feel as writers as they develop their own voices. I look forward to getting to know your child this year to facilitate a year of personal and academic growth! Kathleen Fischer |
“True teachers are those who use themselves as bridges over which they invite their students to cross; then, having facilitated their crossing, joyfully collapse, encouraging them to create their own.”
